"Shurovsky cement" was awarded in the nomination “Best debut in the sphere of non-financial reporting, reporting on sustainable development”

On April 19th, 2011 “Shurovsky cement” was awarded in the nomination “Best debut in the sphere of non-financial reporting, reporting on sustainable development” for its Ecological report 2008-2009 in all-Russian competition “Best Russian enterprises. Dynamics. Performance. Responsibility”, which was held in the frames of Russian business week in Moscow on April 18-22, 2011.

The all-Russian competition “Best Russian enterprises” RSPP is held annually since 1997. The main goals of the competition are to define the most dynamically developing organizations on the basis of rating estimation and to support sustainable development among independent and responsible companies, meeting long-term business interests and contributing to sustainable development of the country. The competition pursued two directions: “Dynamics and performance” and “Social responsibility”. The latter concerns achievements in the sphere of responsible business practice culture forming.

“Shurovsky cement Ecological Report 2008-2009” is the first non-financial document of that type for the Company and for the whole cement industry. The Report contains data regarding the plant impact on the environment in the reporting period and future plans in terms of sustainable development. The document was prepared on the basis sustainable development reporting handbook GRI (version G3) and published at the end of 2010.

 The Report contains information on the following topics: main data about the Company, ecological impact on the environment and ecological management, environmental activity initiatives, responsibility of the plant, cooperation with the stakeholders, world-wide ecological summons and they role in plant’s operation. Special attention is paid to “Reconstruction and technical re-equipment of “Shurovsky cement” and plans of the Company after the new line start-up.
