First Stakeholders' Dialogue

On May 21st, 2010 within a framework of Environmental Report preparation, the first in Cement Industry, ShC PR Department conducted a Dialogue with stakeholders.

Representatives of authorities (namely the administration of Kolomna city district and Rospotrebnadzor), environmental and social organizations as well as cement producers assembled in the "National" Hotel on May 21st, 2010 to discuss the issues of environmental reporting.

Currently, environmental reporting is one of the obligations of companies focusing their activities on the environment. Public document should contain information about activity of the plants aimed at reducing the negative impact on the natural environment and improvement of environmental situation at their production facilities, as well as information on the development and introduction of new technologies and technical resources. The initiative of the Company on preparation of the first report on one of its plants OJSC "Schurovsky cement" was called "pioneering" in the cement business. That is why the format of the meeting was a conversation - a dialogue that allowed the audience to share their views, comments and ideas regarding the identified problem.

During the Dialogue all stakeholders expressed their opinions and, above all, such experts in the field of non-financial reporting and ecology as Elena Feoktistova (Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs), Alexander Martynov (Independent Environmental Rating Agency NERA), Lada Progunova (World Wildlife Fund), Elena Oseledets (Centre for Environmental Initiatives), Philipp Lupov (International Forum of Business Leaders in Russia). Lafarge Cement and Eurocement Group representatives had an opportunity to ask questions about Shurovo Expansion Project and its environmental component directly to deputy Director for Safety and Environmental Protection. The new plant and environmental reporting also attracted the interest of the Russian Builders Union, represented by Gregory Veretelnikov, first vice-president. All proposals, comments, remarks and suggestions were recorded and will be used in the preparation of the public document -" Environmental Report of OJSC "Schurovsky Cement"- 2008-2009".
